[ onto the plane they go! and it's a quick, short trip to homophonic before jonas is leading them to the tocpe district. specifically to the outer park, with all kinds of plazas and grass and pathways, a history museum in the path further down and even further still a large tower that looks a lot like the eiffel tower. ]

And here we are.

Oh, my. Is that the Eiffel Tower? There were so many other points of interest on the way too! What exactly is this place?

[ She looks up at the tower. ]

As in, what does this tower mean? Why was it built? I want to know sooo much!

This... is Tocpe. I don't remember much about this place right now, but I've been here before. It's a pretty big park, but there's a history museum around here somewhere and there's food trucks down that way.

The tower I think was just a landmark like any other. A good mimicry of the real one? Depends if you think that everything has a strong reason for being built at all.

I suppose "strong reason" is already subjective. Let's see~

[ She looks over at all the directions that Jonas pointed out. ]

Let's not visit the history museum.

[ She says cheerfully. Maybe she doesn't want to feel reminded of how old she is or something. ]

Food trucks sound good though!

[ interesting response, but he's not going to force her into that. so he turns away, heading on a path further into the park. ]

Can't go wrong with food trucks. I haven't really been to any myself lately, but supposedly the food there always tastes better? As long as it's not cursed.

Cursed food? Like falling in love with the nearest person?

[ Seo laughs. ]

I can't bear to think about anyone else than my lover... I think I would be so devastated afterwards.

But alright! Food truck, it is~

[ She follows him. ]

I'm really curious to know why that's the one you gravitated toward. But yeah, we had cursed chocolates that did just that. Made for a very messy couple of days.

[ to the trucks! ]

It's just a recent example that I heard from others~ I hope things got settled. Things being messy always invites trouble, whether romantic or not.

Tell me about it. And yet some people find it entertaining to create a giant mess. [ which is how yorugate comes to be. trucks! delicious, savory food trucks. ]

What are they like? [ he's been curious since seodore mentioned his husband, and he wonders what the woman seodore has to say. ]

Oh, they're just about the most wonderful person there is~ I can imagine no one better than them. They are the love of my life! Some people say things like "oh that woman smokes? She'll never get married", but I am!

[ gushing does not cease ]

[ this is so funny. unfortunately he is a teenager so he's veering for like an ice cream truck. ]

That's the reason people say? Stupid. There're way worse reasons a person could not be married besides smoking. [ he says. as a smoker. ] And if they know that about you then who cares? You showed them.

Right? There are plenty of worse reasons, but really... people really hate seeing women smoke! Ahh, I really wish I could have blown smoke into the men's faces.

My lover... they know so much about me, but they keep reassuring me. Being "special" to everyone else... but just like any other person to them specifically. I love it. There's no one else quite like them.

Hey, when we get out of here, what's stopping you from doing that? It kinda sounds deserved.

[ but hum... ]

Sounds like you got lucky finding a person that's made just for you then. [ vaguely wondering how this fits with the seodore he knows. and he figures he will not fully figure it out either. ]

Well, they were just a bunch of randos, you know? Not really worth my time in full.

[ She pauses though as if thinking about something... but then she smiles again like before. ]

Just for me! Wouldn't that be grand? Like I deserve to have someone like that in preparation for everything that would happen. Give them something nice and then take it away...

[ She takes out a cigarette and lights it. Her expression unreadable, yet obvious at the same time. ]

[ his own expression skews to something thoughtful. ]

Life. It does have a way of happening, whether you're prepared or not. Might as well try to hold onto people you want when it does.

Well... I was prepared for their death, but everything after...

[ She stays quiet after her voice trails off. ]

It's fine. They died a natural death.

It's... always something I think people don't think too much about. Yes, it's sad to lose the people we love to death, and people grieve and mourn for them or whatever. But what about the people left behind? When you think about it, that version of that person died, too. Even if you knew someone's death was a long time coming, like old age... or if they're sick. You can really only be so prepared.

You know what? You're right. I cried like a baby! Nonstop tears for several days straight! I was soooo dehydrated. My skin...

[ Anyway, her mood takes a slightly somber turn. ]

... I wanted to go with them, but god won't let me log out, so to say.

But then she looks over at Jonas. ]

But see, I'm reasonable. The version you know? I'm sure he fumes whenever he hears about anything god-related. Poor you, having to deal with that nonsense.

Unsurprising. God didn't answer me when my mom died either. [ he just says this, but... there's a little smile. ]

He's allowed to be angry. I wouldn't tell anyone they shouldn't be. A lot of the people in Heaven were angry about the gods of their world, too. But I do appreciate you being reasonable all the same, thank you.

Of course he's allowed to be angry, but he shouldn't take it out on you when you had nothing to do with it. It's a little like other species claiming that humans are inferior, but they mimic a human's appearance, emotions, actions, and all that. So really, they're not any better.

[ She hums. ]

That's why greek mythology is one of my favorites to read about! They're just like people, you and I.

You think so? [ thinking about some of the people he's met who really are out here saying humans are inferior while wearing human skins. ] ... makes more sense to take it out on me when he can actually see me. But it's good insight, thanks. I... don't want to lose more connections just because of that, even if I'd get it.

I'm not as up to date on my myths, but they're really all human heroes for the gods, or the gods are people who were very human. Right?

You may be a god, but you're not the same one that wronged us. Being blamed for others' mistakes is just about the worst thing, isn't it?

[ She knows she'd hate that. Anyway, what does this food truck sell. ]

They're described as celestial beings, but most of them take form of humans. There's one named Aphrodite, the supposed goddess of love. She gets insanely jealous and punishes people who are prettier than her. A petty human can do that too, if not worse.

... yeah. Just about. [ and yet sometimes you just take the fall anyway for other reasons. we have wandered, and this food truck sells street tacos. tasty. ]

I feel like the difference between a petty human and a petty god is the amount of power they have behind their punishments. But I do think jealousy is an emotion that can impact just about anybody, human or divine or not. I can see your point though. It brings them more on the same level, relatable and understandable versus a god whose decisions are, like "shrouded in mystery" or whatever. I think I'd rather a god be upfront about stuff like that.
